SAN ANTONIO

Through a partnership with the San Antonio Area Foundation (SAAFDN), THE OFFICE performing arts + film launched a new Artists at Work (AAW) initiative in San Antonio in October 2022.

In partnership with SAAFDN, three Culture Hubs were selected to host six AAW Artists, honoring the communities and artists that have long contributed to San Antonio’s rich cultural landscape. Each AAW Artists spent the year working in partnership with a local social impact initiative to lend their skills and creative thinking to efforts to foster a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable future for communities in San Antonio.

The implementation of Artists At Work in San Antonio is made possible by the support of The John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation Fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation. Artists At Work is produced and administered by THE OFFICE performing arts + film with generous support from the Mellon Foundation.

  • Madelyne Wilson is a San Antonio native with a passion for the arts and her community. After four years at Bennington College in Vermont, Madelyne has recently relocated to San Antonio to reconnect with her home and immerse herself in its culture. Madelyne is motivated by work that centers the voices of those most impacted and has endeavored to create positive impacts by working with various non-profits including, First Ask, an organization that encouraged pro-choice community leaders to run for state and local offices, PERIOD, a menstrual justice organization that works to increase access to period products and to end the tampon tax where she established the first Vermont chapter and organized a state-wide rally, and Franklin Furnace, an avant garde arts organization that aims to preserve and present art that may be undervalued due to institutional neglect or political unpopularity. Madelyne approached her role as the AAW San Antonio Liaison with a great deal of pride in her community and gratitude to those who have made AAW possible in San Antonio.
